In an age of advertising and a huge variety of goods and services, we sometimes lose touch with reality, buy what we don’t need, and spend money faster than we earn. But this problem can be easily solved.
Set a goal. Saving for the sake of saving is suitable either for stingy people or for those who are very organized and have great willpower not to spend money. If you do not belong to these categories of people, then you should set yourself a goal for which you will start saving. Ask yourself, what do you want to spend your money on? It can be a trip, buying something expensive and other things. The main thing – the goal should motivate you to save.
Avoid spontaneous purchases. Today you saw a beautiful clock in the shop window, tomorrow you may stop liking it. Be more responsible when shopping.
Keep track of your income and expenses. Pay there all the costs, even the smallest ones. This will allow you to clearly see where most of your money is flowing and what you can really save on.
Do not take loans. Buying something on credit, you overpay, respectively, the purchase is not profitable, you lose money. It is better to raise money than to take a loan.
Don’t spend money on a payday, especially a large amount. Many people on such days are in a state of financial euphoria, it seems that a lot of money and you can afford everything. In the end, you run the risk of making impulsive purchases that you don’t need.
Transfer money in cash from plastic cards. Electronic money is psychologically easier to spend. It is easy to part with them because they are not noticeable, you do not see them. They are just a number on the terminal screen. Another thing is cash, the weight of which you feel in your wallet.
Don’t carry a lot of money in your wallet. This advice will be especially useful for shopaholics, who are able to lower their entire salary in one day. Calculate in advance how much money you will need for the day, how much you plan to have lunch at work, how much you need for travel, and for the most basic needs. Don’t take money “just in case”, because this case will definitely happen if you count on it.
Do not go to the store hungry. You can leave a significant amount of money in the supermarket if you go there hungry. In this case, you will be controlled not by the mind, but by the stomach, which will want both, and the second, and the third. It is better to buy food a few days in advance, unless, of course, it is a perishable food. If you buy food, for example, for three days, it will allow you to avoid unnecessary additional purchases, such as chocolates at the checkout.
Buy what you need, not your ego. Is it worth spending money on things that will allow you to prove something to someone or to look no worse than others? If your colleague bought a new iPhone, and you have a desire to buy it too, then ask yourself, what exactly drives you?
When going to the store, make a shopping list. This will help you not to take too much. If you, knowing yourself, can still buy something, not from the list, then calculate in advance the approximate cost of what you plan to buy and take with you the exact amount of money.
Buy gifts correctly. Of course, you should not save on gifts. You just have to be more discriminating with the help you render toward other people. Just buy them in advance, not in a hurry, as is usually the case. This will allow you to find the best gift option at an attractive price for you.
Is it worth attending sales? Sales and promotions in stores are a great way to spend all your money. Of course, many such promotions look very attractive, but going to them, we often buy what we absolutely do not need. And we are attracted only by the price, and nothing more. In the end, we are left with a whole bunch of bought things from the sale, which we do not really need now.
When do you need to go on sale? Sales can be useful in two cases. An example of the first case: you have a broken washing machine and then you learn that the store opposite now gives a big discount on appliances. An example of the second case: your winter coat has long worn out, but now it’s summer and you, of course, do not think about buying winter things. However, stores often give discounts on non-seasonal goods. You will still have to buy a coat, then if you buy it in winter for one amount, then in summer you can buy it for half price.
Choose the rates that suit you. Mobile operators are constantly getting new tariffs, so do not be lazy sometimes to be interested in their advantageous offers. It is also not superfluous to disable options that you do not use, but for which you pay money. They may not be large, but if you count the amount of money spent on them per year, they could buy something valuable and useful.
Reasonable savings have not prevented anyone from maintaining the family budget and improving the financial situation. The main thing is not to save on health, loved ones, your dreams and not to confuse savings with avarice.
